LAST UPDATE: I solved making a search in the system library folder and deleting everything about pulp. I think its a lion problem, because it happened at the windows restore prompt. UPDATE: after a day of use it started crashing repeately. Doesnt matter if I choose to restore or not the windows in the restart prompt. Tried a clean uninstall (with both appcleaner and app zapper). Tried to uninstall using the classic method. Nothing. When I reinstall it reopens in crash (i cant see the interface, it crashes before). Good work, but please, dont let me wait a lot. I could see for another program I really hoped that the new version will replace the facebook sharing feature with a better one, without passing from the Facebook app "Pulp". Its still the same, with all the disavantages that come with it. Everytime i read an article I need to open it in the browser to share it in a sane way. And so that makes the initial app purpouse of being all inclusive vanishing. I really enjoy your browsing feature inthe iPad version, that allow me to use the site interface. Why not in the Macc version? I use this space for the last critic about the ipad version. Impossible to make all article read in one group as I can do in the mac one.
Great App with an Original UI. One of the most used app on my mac. Please consider making an iPhone version too. or making a Universal version since the iPad version is already there. With the iCloud syncing already onboard, it would be really great!!!!!
Syncronization with Mavericks is completely blocked. Please update
I was looking for an App that would allow me to read the WSJ offline during car trips and stuff; this app, however, does not allow you to read newspapers online, and I was sorely disappointed. The picture at the front does not clarify that it only allows you to view stuff from RSS feeds
This app is really nice. Pretty cool interface and is perfect for my needs. The support team fixed the crash problem on my macbook pro! Thank you!
Received the update for version 2.5.1 and everything is back to working as before. I like using Pulp. Thanks for the update.
The iCloud syncing was a bit unreliable before, but now it seems to work more consistently. I hope they update the iPad version, too, because I can imagine both versions would need the syncing improvements. The only glitch Im having is that articles saved using the Safari extension wont delete from my iPad. Oh well, Im sure theyll fix it. The developers are very good about pushing out updates!
Fantastic app. Very nice interface. Lateset update fixed the crashing issue. Thanks!
Everything seems fixed now in the latest release. App works great and is an awesome news reader!
After the update, everything is back to normal, and working.
THis is a beautiful program and its the only app I can find that uses iCloud sync instead of Google Reader. The iPad app works OK but the OSX app needs work. The Major issues with the last version were instability and flakey iCloud sync. This minor update appears to have made the program more stable but the sync issues remain. Other Issues: 1) Theres no manual. The developers say on thier website that email support is available but two emails to them regarding problems with the last version went unanswered. The FAQ on their website is inadequate to provide all of the support needed for this program. 2) Theres no way to mark individual feeds read and no way to mark individual articles unread. 3) Needs a menu bar item and/or keyboard shortcut for "View in Safari" 4) Unlike the iPad app, theres no inline Internet browser to allow users to read an article without losing focus on the Pulp program window. Unless you really need a Google Reader alternative, you may find yourself better off waiting for the release of Mountain Lion and/or for the next version of this app before buying.
I caught the app when it was 4.99, but it also crashed on me day 2! A week and a half later its updated and I absolutely love it again. Still figuring out the little nooks and crannies but it runs smoothly, updates with no problems and is all around awesome! If you love your news, BUY IT!!!
This is the app reader i was looking for, easy to use interface i think is the best!!!!
I love the idea of this app, and I purchased it quite a while ago. Every few months, I install it and try to set it up to see if it finally works correctly, and each time I get frustrated and delete it again. Theres so much to like about Pulp, and I really wish the developers would stop and take a little extra time to make sure that the most basic aspects of the app actually function correctly. Ill keep hoping, and Ill try again in a few months, but for now I have to say: dont buy this app.
This is a sound app and considering the Flipboard app was almost pushing me towards buying an iPad, it was well worth $10. There are a few things I would like to see updated however, 1. Add iCloud syncing. I use it both on my Macbook Pro as well as my iMac but I do not want to take the energy to input all of my original RSS feeds and reorganize them on two different systems. 2. Some of the RSS feeds that display pictures on Flipboard do not display pictures in this so if it is possible I would like to see that added as well! (Tried messing with all the settings) 3. Also allowing the square thumbnail feature to be enabled with the picture on the right AND the left, instead of just the right would be a nice touch as far as esthetics are concerned. Other than those minor complaints I would strongly reccommend this app to anyone who enjoys getting all their favorite news/info from RSS and having them all in one place. Its great.
"Youve come a long way baby!" Seriously, you guys should be proud. This is really something now, but I still wont be using it until I can do a full Google Reader sync. Why 3 stars? I know, I wish I could do 3.5, but having the sync really is that important to me. I know everyone treats these reviews as a biased way to manipulate developers, so why shouldnt I? Im kidding! But really, its hard to have a RSS reader and justify not supportin Google Reader sync in my opinion. Im BUYING the iPad version of PULP just to show my continued support! "Keep on rocking me baby!" Cheers guys!
Support for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display is really nice, as well as support for Pocket. The reason I like support for Pocket is because there is no iPhone version of Pulp. There really should be one, and there are some great designs on dribbble in case the developer needs some inspiration. I really dislike how the Pulp window goes all the way doen to the bottom of the screen when reading an article. I would prefer if it would just stay the regular size, and just have a simple back button. It would be nice if I wouldnt have to worry about reading all of the articles to make Pulp happy. If articles would have the same font color read or unread, and there was no "unread articles" counter (like a real newspaper), I would really like it. I would also like to be able to customize the background of Pulp while in full screen mode.
Its the best of RSS readers Ive ever used. But I would like to get iPhone version, even if I will need to buy it separately from iPad version.
Been with these guys since Times 1.0. This has always been my go-to news app and they keep improving it which is great. One thing Id love to have is the ability to rearragne feeds within a column. Aside from that, I have no complaints. Oh, would also love an iPhone version since I dont have an iPad…yet. ***NEW UPDATE*** Well, it was good while it lasted. R.I.P. Pulp/Times.
