Pulp App Reviews

Amazing! ….But theres always room for improvement.

This is by far the best RSS reader for Mac. It not only brings all of your online news content to one place, but also does it in a beautiful way. The display is amazing and completely customizable. As for the complaints that all Pulp does is display headlines, thats not true. Those users are just not using the app properly. In order to display the whole article you can click the magic wand icon in the top left hand column. And under settings for each feed there is a setting that enables you to have the magic wand automatically activated. And as for exiting the article, there is no need to close the app. Just click the gray space below the open article. BUT while I think this app is amazing, there are a couple of things that I think would make it even better. 1. This has already been mentioned but it would be great to be able to filter out articles that youve already read. The app does automatically gray them out but it would be nice if another article could come up to take its place on the display. 2. Being able to view certain articles offline would also be a great addition. This would allow people to temporarly download certain articles that they can then read while commuting.

Archaic layout

Not my cup of tea really. I prefer Reeder for its ease of use. I can just use my arrow keys to navigate Reeder very quickly but with Pulp its all mouse.

GREAT APP!! JUST ONE MAJOR UI PROBLEM

I have one issue with this app and its that they need to fix how articles are opened. Usually when you click on an article it only shows the heading and a line or two of text, they REALLY need to fix this. Im hoping they fix this and create a better interface where it shows the whole online story and not just two lines of intro. Its like im reading a newspaper that only shows the headings and no context. functionality wise i would rate the Reeder app higher, other than that this app is great and FANTASTIC LOOKING!!

Knock, knock. Nobody home.

A slick interface. I bought it for the iCloud integration with my iPad, which isnt perfect (Pulp doesnt do an initial sync when used as a Login item). I also find the home page useless, but theres no way to turn it off. But my emails to the developer for support get no response. Ill be looking for another RSS reader from a developer who actually might care a bit about their customers.

Bug, bug, bug

Times (the original app) was full of bugs. And no upgrade, no emails, no nothing. I bought Pulp anyway. Lots of bug, very disappointed. Save your money, dont buy.

Nice

I love this App, very nice and simple UI.

A total waste of $10

I have been a great fan of Netnewswire for many years. In my opinion it has been the best RSS reader on mac. But with the technology changing, a number of different RSS readers emerged on the app store, Pulp being one of the most expensive among them. I decided to adopt Pulp after reading a lot of positive review about its modern interface and its ability to make a customized newspaper for you, out of a bundle of your RSS feeds, thus enabling you to read selective and most important feeds. I also decided to adopt pulp because of the drastic decline of Netnewswire, which I think could still be the best Mac RSS reader, had its developers not destroyed it trying to put it on the Mac App store. Anyways, here is my review of pulp after using it for almost six months: 1. When pulp makes a customized newspaper for you, out of all of your RSS feeds, it mostly selects the un-important ones and discards the important ones. That is quite natural as how could it know, what kind of news you like more and you enjoy reading and what kind of news you read occasionally. It does not have any option to give preference to your personal preferences. 2. The interface is highly un-attractive. I have noticed that when I was using Netnewswire, whenever I opened it, I used to spend a lot of time reading the news of my interest. Since I have installed pulp, I dont even feel like opening it most of the times. 3. Most of the feeds that pulp gets are without pictures which makes the whole experience of reading news very boring. I contacted customer support and they say, there is a technical problem with pulp that it is not able to display most of the pictures. I think I am gonna look for another RSS reader. My suggestion, dont buy Pulp. It is a total waste of money.

Pulpilicous

I discovered Pulp early on and have been faithfully using this rss reader now for a while. I am 90% happy with it but there are quirks when using it on my imac. After 20 minutes or more of use the rollup effect vanishes leaving me no way of closing an article, forcing me to restart the app. The menu bar with all my tabs vanish, as does the edit feature. it looks like a graphics glitch as article return on a restart. Otherwise a beautiful way to lay out my internet visually for fast topic skimming and detailed reading in one app.

Good but needs improvement

The animations are too slow and you should be able to scroll through storys on the main page. But it looks really nice

MACで日本語文字化けします。

タイトルとリストまでは日本語対応ですが、中身を読み込んだ瞬間に、バケバケです。 Unable to Japanese character within body area.

Great Stuff

SuperDuperAwesomeRssThingy!

Sorry, but this is still a mess...

I really had hopes for this update, especially for all the bug fixes. My feeds are still inaccurately displayed. Safari displays all my bookmarked feeds correctly, Pulp - well, lets say it offers a pretty random selection of articles. Download trial version before you buy!!!

Fun

Reading news has never been so fun. Its much more interesting than with Vienna or NetNewsWire. I used to use the latter, but now my heart belongs to Pulp;) For those whod like to make newsreading more fun!

Dont buy

Good concept, ok implementation. Several insanely annoying bugs. Non-esisten support. Havent been updated since forever. AVOID. DONT BUY.

Slow work, when many rss feeds on one page (switching pages)

Broken cyrrilic support

In version 2.5.1 russian codepage support in Magic Reader mode was broken. All text is showing like "конечном результате и". Without correct cyrrilic support your software is absolutely useless for me. Please fix it. I can not find any support page on your site.

Fullscreen mode!

When start the app, it does not open in fullscreen mode. Boring to always use shortcuts (ctrl+cmd+f). Please, add the save window position. Thanks. Amazing app!

Not bad

You’d better remove opening page animation! On MacBook Pro Retina it causes only glitches! the app definitely need more options for text such as alignment for example!

Nice interface, but ....!!!

Well the application is nicely done but there are still a few bugs & improvements to solve! 1. Still not working with some rss feeds (ex. when i m surfing in safari then i want to mark some pages and see them in pulp after!) 2. I want an option to import my opml files, sometimes works 3. if im using ex. appshopper feed, its not possile to open the itunes link! 4. the badge icon structure should be reviewd, because it would be nice to see how many articles are new/unread and not only a 1 number in the badge 5. a overview structure (also with the possibility to hide it) of all the feeds, just for be more organized 6. .....dont wanna continue.. well i can say, its a nice start, maybe thats the reason why the app costs for a limited time only 50% of the full price! But anyway i hope in a few improvements! best regards

beautiful program and interface
