Please add Full Screen Mode to complement the new OS X Lion Update!
The new fullscreen mode is amazing! Chapeau!
Thanks for updating the app to work with Lions new features. Can we get an option with the full screen mode for the paper/articles to actually appear FULL screen rather than having a 0.5"-0.75" border (or background if you like) all the way around?
I love this app, but whats holding it back for me is the inability to show full images in the column. I have a page set aside for comics (so image feeds) and i have to click on the image to view its fullness. It would be ideal to view them so i can see several full size images at once. They get cropped in the column right now. i can see its full width but the height is trimmed. you get it. ill shut up.
I really like this app. Most elegant RSS solution Ive found to date. I use it accross my Mac and iPad, and syncing is wonderful. I definitely purchasing recommend Pulp.
Nice interface in terms of the content; seriously blows in terms of navigation -- the only buttons along the top of the window are to toggle the shelf, where you can store articles, the Magic button, to download the whole story when in article mode, and an Edit button to rejig columns and add/subtract feeds. Desperately need a Home button to take you back to the "newspaper" from article mode, as well as a Refresh Feeds button. In fact, theres a ton of empty real estate up there so why not also put buttons up for resizing text, marking articles as read, etc. I mean, hello. So, good -- but so not great.
…not really…….. it collects headlines but to read in detail, it opens a browser….. redundant really. Again, just bookmark the areas or sites of interest, save your money, space on your computer and time. Format of headlines is fine. It is flexible in its set up. The app for the ipad may be another matter and more useful but I feel I wasted my $10 for an app for the iMac.
Pulp works great with a big display. Over the years Ive used a number of other RSS readers including Reader, Vienna, NNW, Gruml and Times (the original incarnation of Pulp) and Pulp has won me over but only because I have recently purchased a 27" monitor. The format in which Pulp displays RRS works very well on large displays. On a smaller display I would likely stick with Reader, which is geat for limitied screen real estate (e.g., iphone/ipad or smaller monitor less than 24"). But for a large display, Pulp is king,
All these rave reviews and quite honestly I cant comprehend why after purchasing and trying out this app. I hope the developer will be putting in some time as this program is in need of work in my opinion.
For $10 I would expect that I could resolve an issue, or even contact someone to help me get this program to work. Currently it opens, but doesnt actually work? Disappointed.
Please allow the ability move feeds around within a column. Its a no-brainer for an app like this and for ten dollars I cant believe that you dont have the option there already. If you added that feature you would get a five star rating from me. The UI is really well designed and fluid most of the time. It was a little sluggish at times on my 2.66 Core 2 Duo 2010 Macbook Pro, but other than that the app is great, keep up the good work ;) **UPDATE** The one other thing that this app DESPERATELY needs is Growl integration. Even the free alternative Vienna has that and its FREE. If you put Growl integration in and fix the stuff I said above, I will give you six stars, and a bro hug.
After seeing Pulps gorgeous layout and the ability to sync it without Google Reader, I was impressed. I purchased both the Mac App and iPad App. For several weeks, the application and Pulp sync worked flawlessly. However within the last week, the syncing function appears to have broken completely. On one of my Macs the application appears to be stuck in syncing. Even after unistalling and reinstalling the application, the issue was not resolved. I reached out to Pulp directly for support. They never even bothered to respond. I am overwhelmingly disspointed because I thought this App was unique and served a great purpose, but not if it is completely unreliable and unsupported.
I have been unable to add most of the new news feeds I want and rely on. They are all working feeds in a program called Vienna. I tried to copy/paste the URL but it does not work consistently. Perhaps Im doing something wrong but several did copy. I tried using Safari, after changing the preference to "Pulp" but the feed does not get added to Pulp. I cant use this program.
I like the idea of pulp, but I wish that there was a way to have my feeds automatically organized by my Google Reader folders. I don t have the patience to setup columns and sections, especially since I add new feeds and folders to my Google Reader account all the time. I understand the benefit of customization, but perhaps there could be an "auto-arrange" feature or something. The whole point of an RSS reader for me is to save me time by putting all my favorite news sources in one place. Having to take the time to set things up as my feeds change is a deal breaker.
Ive been using Pulp for years, back when it used to be called Times. Its easily the best RSS reader you can use, and the companion app for the iPad is just as amazing. I highly recommend it, best purchase youll make on the App Store.
I bought this application and have been using it, and suddenly it wont update anymore unless I move from 10.6 to 10.7. I just bought this recently. Time to move to a more open platform.
Had this app before 2.5 and loooooooved it but 2.5 was broken and had a bug so i couldnt use it, but 2.5.1 squashed those bugs and now I can honeslty reccomend this rss reader to ANYONE it worth 50$ let alone 10$ Buy and you wont regret
Visually the app looks great. Ive run into some odd issues with it though. 1. Adding a tab was easy, but renaming it proves to be tough. If I click a tab, and choose rename - nothing happens. Its just a charcoal box that I cant type anything in. As a result, I have a bunch of nameless tabs. 2. Trying to add a feed that already exists doesnt present you with an error, or give you the option to move said feed to your new tab. It just isnt possible to add it until you delete it from some other tab. 3. I somehow clicked something that took be to a grey blank screen with no-buttons on it at all. The only solution was to force-quit the app.
I have never written a review before but have decided to write one now only because I have never been so disappointed with an App. Despite the new version, it continues to crash endlessly. Support is horrible (I wrote in asking for a refund, saying that I am not interested in waiting for fixes, and the response was "a fix is coming"). Stear clear - plenty of other, much more stable apps out there that will save you the frustration.
This is the best RSS reader for the Mac. Ive tried them all and this is my favorite. Used to do all my reading on my iPhone, but now I have this for my Mac!! Spending a lot more time in front of my computer.
